Below you’ll find my Embroidery Art projects.
My handmade embroideries range from small to large scale works. I’m inspired by nature, the cosmos, as well as film, anime, and manga. Some pieces are stand alone, while others are part of a collection.
I also like to combine handmade embroidery with digital typography to create book covers for my self-published books.

The Light Has Always Been Inside You (8in x 10in) - This piece was inspired by my book of poems Red Soul Into the Dark, and I ended up using it for the cover. This piece took me about 50-60 hours to complete.

The Crystal Seers - Handmade Text. I wanted to try collaging handmade embroidery with digital elements to create a book cover, for my in-progress short story collection, The Crystal Seers. I love the how the handmade text makes the cover pop.

Avatar Aang (9in x 12in) - Avatar The Last Airbender is one of favorite animated series. I especially loved the world building. This piece was inspired by one of the images in the art of the animated books. An image featuring Aang underwater while in the Avatar state. I added some felt applique to add dimension to the piece. This work is part of an on-going collection of pieces inspired by the world of Avatar the Last Airbender.

Buum-Ju (9in x 12in) - Avatar the Last Airbender - I loved season 2 of the Avatar series and their expansion into the spirit world. Seeing all of those beautifully unique spirits was very inspiring for me. I created this mixed media piece of Buum-Ju using oil pastel, colored pencil, and metallic thread to give the piece some sparkle and glow.

Dark Spirit (8in x 10in) - Avatar the Last Airbender - This is one of the dark spirits from the spirit world. I wanted it to look like it was appearing out of the darkness. This was a mixed media piece using oil pastel, watercolor, and thread.

Nightwing (8in x 10in) - This piece is a stand-alone work. An abstracted interpretation of a hummingbird. I used needle felting, along with embroidery.

Cardinal (8in x 10in) - This piece was a gift for my partner's father. A man who became a dear father figure to me. This mixed media piece was made using a mulberry paper background, with silk ribbon and thread embroidery.
